Motor Units

The DeSoto County Sheriff's Department currently has six motorcycles in service, all of which are Harley-Davidson Police Bikes.  The two oldest units are 2009 Electra Glides, easily distinguishable by the broad, white faring in front of the handle bars.  The other four motor units are Road King Police Editions, two of which are 2010 models and two of which are 2011's.  Equipped with six-speed transmissions and 103 cubic inch police edition motors, these bikes have plenty of power for the task at hand - what ever it may be.

During 2010, a significant investment was made for motors as each of the units were equipped with the same powerful radio that is mounted in the patrol cars.  This was a major improvement in communications and safety for the motor officers over the previous use of hand-held radios while on the motorcycle.  The more powerful radios now allow effective communications throughout the county, regardless of speed.

All eight officers of the Traffic Division strive to provide the citizens of DeSoto County the highest level of professionalism, adhering to the Sheriff's Department motto of "Serving with Honor & Integrity".  Should you wish to request assistance from the traffic Division, please contact the DeSoto County Sheriff's Department at 662-429-1470.
